Proposed Itinerary
(The final itinerary may vary slightly)
Day 1
Depart New York City and Arrival to the land of the pharaohs. At Cairo International Airport you will be welcomed and escorted to your hotel. First night dinner will be included at Felfela Restaurant (included). After dinner we will have an orientation to shopping at the market and then experience a visit to Cairo's world famous market for an evening of bargains, bartering, sights, and smells.
Day 2
Drive to Sakkara the vast Necropolis of Ancient Memphis. Sakkara has 14 Pyramids and was built by Zoser I in 2700 B.C. It is the location of the first pyramid and the world's oldest stone structure. Then it's on to Memphis - the Capital of the ancient kingdom and one of the most important cities throughout the history of ancient Egypt. Visit the great pyramids of Giza, and the enigmatic Sphinx, where there will even be a Camel Ride for those who are adventurous. The afternoon is on your own to explore Pyramids. Drive around the city before embarking on your dinner cruises on the Nile River. Dinner includes belly dancing and a folkloric show. This is a very pleasant way to spend an evening and experience Cairo by night.
Day 3
In the early morning and after breakfast, we drive to the Egyptian Museum, famous for its antiquities dating back some 50 centuries from Egypt's Pharaonic period, including the fabulous treasures of King Tut. In the afternoon, we take a tour of Old Cairo, visit the old Coptic suspended Church and the oldest Synagogue of Ben Ezra. Later we drive to the citadel of Saladin, and the Alabaster mosque of Mohammed Ali. In the evening you will be driven to the citadel again to attend the Dervish Whirl at Citadel - Back to the Mena House to spend the night.
Day 4
Transfer to Cairo airport for flight to Aswan. Transfer to your Nile cruise ship, your "hotel" for the next four nights. Afternoon sail
by Felucca around Elephantine Island to the Botanical Gardens and Mausoleum of Agha Khan outside only. (B, L, D): CRUISE Overnight in Aswan.
Day 5
After breakfast proceed to see the Aswan High Dam, the granite quarries and the unfinished Obelisk, and Philae's Temple of Isis Sail to Kom Ombo to see the Ptolemaic Temple built for Horus and Sobek. Sail to Edfu (B, L, D): CRUISE (Edfu)
Day 6
Today travel by horse-drawn carriage to visit the 2000-year-old, well-preserved Temple of Horus. This afternoon, sail via Esna to Luxor (B, L, D): CRUISE (Luxor)
Day 7
Today travel to the West Bank of the Nile to visit the Necropolis of Thebes, the Colossi of Memnon, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the Valley of the Kings, and the Valley of the Queens (B, L, D): CRUISE (Luxor)
Day 8
This morning, visit the Temples of Karnak and Luxor, and the Avenue of the Sphinxes. Disembark the cruise. This evening, enjoy the Sound and Light Show at the Temple of Karnak. Later on and transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo. Transfer with assistance to your hotel (B): CAIRO
Day 9
Free at Leisure in the morning. Early or late evening performances of the Son et Lumiere (Sound & Light) extravaganza at the worlds most famous ancient sites, the Pyramids in Giza. Over night Mena House.
Day 10
A morning of leisure. Afternoon brings your group to a private meditation time in the Great Pyramid after it is closed to the public (assuming we receive government permission). You will have your own healing and rejuvenation time, within the great pyramid, as a parting gift from the Magical Land of Egypt.
Day 11
Final day in Cairo and check out before 12 Noon. Transfer to Cairo airport and farewell
